Maritime & Coastguard Agency  The MCA is responsible for implementing the Government’s maritime safety policy. It co-ordinates search and rescue at sea through Her Majesty’s Coastguard, and checks that ships meet UK and international safety rules. It works to prevent the loss of lives at the coast and at sea, to ensure that ships are safe, and to prevent coastal pollution.

Merchant Navy Training Board  MNTB is the shipping industry's body for developing and promoting the training and qualification of seafarers. It is the authoritative centre of expertise and information on careers, qualifications, training opportunities, training provision and skill needs and issues in the industry.

The Nautical Institute  The Nautical Institute is an international professional body for qualified seafarers and others with an interest in nautical matters. It is involved in accreditation of training, open learning schemes, and participation in industry and other maritime education and training working groups.

Nautical Campus  This is an independent educational site run by The Nautical Institute. It provides information and support to companies and individuals who want to enhance their performance or improve their prospects through education and training. It has a searchable database of higher educational courses throughout the world which are relevant to maritime.

The Marine Society  The Marine Society provides education, library services and financial support to those who go to sea. For 248 years it has been committed to promoting careers at sea and enhancing the well-being of professional seafarers - present, prospective, and past.

Port Skills & Safety Ltd  PSSL is the ports industry’s organisation for health, safety, skills and standards. Formed in 2002, it has a wide remit to work with its subscribers, helping to raise health, safety and skills standards in UK ports.

Seafish Industry Authority  Seafish is a cross-industry body working with fishermen, processors, wholesalers, seafood farmers, fish friers, caterers, retailers and the import/export trade. It promotes training to fishermen and works closely with the wider seafood industry to identify training needs.

Royal Yachting Association  The RYA is a membership organisation that exxists to promote and protect boating. It administers national training schemes, and is responsible for certification and deliver of a variety of courses and respected qualifications.

British Marine Federation  BMF is the Trade Association for the UK Marine Leisure Industry, covering both seagoing and inland sectors of the marine industry, and supporting services. Its training service develops and promotes training and recruitment, and delivers a portfolio of short courses.

Shipbuilding and Shiprepairers Association  The SSA represents the industry in the UK. It exists to further the interests of its members, encourage & facilitate business improvement and to promote the industry. It operates a Masterclass scheme which includes training ans skills development.
